mapiscoGraphicRankEurope Biodiversity is declining globally. Meeting international targets aimed at halting these declines requires conservation efforts targeted not only at species but also at other aspects of biodiversity such as habitats, cultural values and ecosystem services. Against this backdrop, the UK Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) sought, via this project, to develop a methodology for identifying species for which targeted conservation action would have the broadest co-benefits for other species, habitats, wider ecosystems, and ecosystem services.

The University of Newcastle delivered MAPISCo (Method for the Assessment of Priorities for International Species Conservation) between 2011 & 2013.

I developed a web interface for MAPISCo enabling data and methods to be visualised and explored .
